About Imogen Gough

Imogen Gough was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. At the age of 19 she moved to Montreal where she graduated from Concordia University and began her career as a freelance translator.

Imogen Gough

As a young mother of four, in 1997, she began writing a weekly column for local newspapers called "Reality Check", on family life with a quirky twist.

In summer 2006, Imogen was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer and underwent three surgeries followed by extensive chemotherapy. Throughout this journey she became a familiar figure in the Montreal area as a weekly guest on the Andrew Carter show on CJAD AM radio. She continues today to share her cancer and post-cancer experiences on the airwaves.

About The Book Illustrations

Illustrator extraordinaire Nancy MacKenzie, one of Imogen's closest friends, was a tremendous source of inspiration and support throughout the entire ordeal. Without her, putting the can in cancer would be nothing more than a chemo-induced fantasy.

I Put the CAN in Cancer takes refreshing approach to a life-threatening disease faced by millions around the world, giving those who are suffering and their loved ones a gentle nudge back to the reality that life goes on, no matter what.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the I Put the CAN in Cancer Fund created to brighten the lives of cancer patients wherever it is sold.
